Through the years, we have had the privilege to sponsor some amazing events. One event in particular that touches our heart deeply is Buckles and Barrels for Bailey – an annual charity barrel race held at the South Point Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, NV. It’s more than just a barrel race, however, it’s a powerful example of what our community can do when we come together for a greater purpose.
Because of Bailey
Bailey was born on July 8th, 2010, in Las Vegas, NV. Shortly after her arrival, she developed an intestinal infection and spent the next four months in the Las Vegas Spring Valley Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. While in the NICU, Bailey’s family came up with the idea to produce a charity barrel race to help other families with sick children and to help out the very special doctors and nurses that staffed that unit.
After 108 days in the NICU, Bailey finally got to come home. She recovered from her initial health issues only to be diagnosed with a rare, terminal genetic disease at 6 years old. Bailey’s family got her into a clinical trial in Columbus, Ohio, where they replaced the defective gene in her brain hoping to stop the progression of the disease.
Sadly, Bailey passed away on October 4th, 2021, but her legacy lives on through Buckles and Barrels for Bailey and the work her family does through their nonprofit, “Because of Bailey.” Through this 501(c)(3) organization, Bailey’s family aims to help families with sick, injured and terminally ill children with medical expenses, the purchase of specialized equipment, travel expenses, and living expenses while their child undergoes treatment.
Over the last two years alone, Because of Bailey has distributed over $180,000 to families in need. As a proud sponsor of this event, we couldn’t be more honored to stand behind such a meaningful cause. Seeing firsthand the impact this event has on families in need reminds us why we do what we do. We’re thrilled to play even a small part in helping this mission grow year after year, and we look forward to continuing the ride alongside this incredible team.
