When it comes to competing at the highest level of rodeo, every detail matters – especially the saddle you trust day in and day out. For Canadian barrel racer Karli Cowie, that trust has been earned over nearly a decade with Usher Brand.
“I have three Usher Brand saddles and love them,” Karli praises. “I have probably rode them for eight years now and have the same saddles now that I did eight years ago, and they still look brand new. The quality is incredible and the saddles will last forever.”
We take pride in every saddle we make. We know what competitors like, because we’re competitors ourselves. After riding in many saddles over the years, Karli knows exactly what she needs to feel balanced and ride her horses the best.
“I love how the Usher Brand saddles sit me so I am able to ride the hind end of my horse and not get tipped forward. They also seem to fit a wide variety of horses and I never have to worry about my saddle pinching or not fitting my horse right,” she says.
Like any rodeo competitor, Karli recognizes how important horsepower is, and shares her excitement over her string of horses coming into the 2026 season.
“My main horse is Queen Flingtima (Fling) who is by A Streak of Fling out of Queen Fa Tima by Dash Ta Fame. I have qualified for three Canadian Finals Rodeos in a row on her and she has over $275k in lifetime earnings. She is incredibly special to me and I am excited for another year on her!
“I also have a couple others I am very excited about. Nicks Last Goodbye (Millie) a six year old mare by The Goodbye Lane out of a Dr Nick Bar mare. She is starting to get so solid and I am excited to run her at a lot of the rodeos this summer,” she continues. “I have a futurity horse for this year: Streakin Ta Moonfame (Moonie). She is by A Streak of Fling out of CB Mooned by Fame (Dash Ta Fame). She reminds me of Fling in a lot of ways and I am looking forward to hauling her and taking her to the futurities!”
Karli had an incredibly successful 2025 rodeo season, winning one of the largest Canadian rodeos of the year.
“My favorite win in 2025 was probably winning the Williams Lake Stampede,” she says. “That was one of the biggest rodeos of the year and I feel turned my whole season around and set me up to become one of the high money earners over Cowboy Christmas.”
As we head into 2026, Karli is looking forward to having another pro-level horse in her trailer, as well as seasoning her young horses.
“My game plan for the year is to run Fling at the rodeos I know she does well at and the pens she likes and run Millie at a lot of the other ones this year. It will be fun to have another competitive pro rodeo level horse this year as in years past I have only had Fling. I am looking forward to going to the rodeos again and seasoning my young horses and getting them solid. I am excited to see where the year takes us!”
