As we watch our Usher Brand athletes go down the rodeo road each year, we know just how much work goes on behind the scenes to make it all happen. Quality gear matters, especially at the highest level, and Canadian cowgirl Taylor Cherry knows that firsthand. Competing against the best in the world takes more than talent and hard work – it takes equipment she can count on, run after run. From the practice pen to the biggest arenas, Taylor relies on gear that helps her stay sharp, confident, and competitive every step of the way.

Taylor’s Team of Horses

Throughout the season, Taylor has had a solid team of horses carrying her every step of the way – including a nearly-$60,000 payday at the Breeders Elite Futurity and Derby.

“My main mount has been Blazin Sugar Daddy, or “Preacher.” He’s gritty, powerful,  and has a knack for stepping up when the lights are brightest. I also hauled Frenchman’s Extra, a 5 year old mare who has really impressed me, she’s young but already clocking at the pro level. Then Lynn’s Honor (“Lenny”, has quickly become one of the standouts in my program. She’s gritty, consistent, and thrives under pressure the bigger the stage, the harder she tries). On top of that, Stella has been my breakaway horse, and she gave me some huge wins this year too. Each one brings something different, and they’ve all made this season one to remember.”

Saddles You Can Trust

For Taylor, a saddle isn’t just a piece of equipment – it’s a key part of her success. Spending countless hours in the saddle and riding multiple horses a day means she needs gear that’s built to last, fits right, and keeps her in-tune to her horse.

“My Usher Brand saddle has been a huge part of my program. I look for a saddle that keeps me balanced, close to my horse, and allows me to ride aggressively without ever feeling like I’m fighting my seat,” Taylor shares. “Usher Brand checks every one of those boxes – they are built to hold up to the demands of riding many horses a day and they fit my horses comfortably and keep them moving freely.”

“The biggest difference with Usher Brand is how custom and well thought out they are. Every detail has a purpose, from the way the seat is shaped, how the stirrups are hung, to the way it sits on a horse’s back,” she continues. “I’ve ridden in a lot of saddles over the years, and with Usher Brand I feel like I can trust my saddle the same way I trust my horses, dependable, durable, and always gives me the same feel no matter where I’m running.”

Consistency is Key

The 2025 season has been all about keeping things simple and steady for Taylor. Instead of making big changes or overthinking runs, she’s leaned into consistency, trusting her process and staying mentally grounded no matter where she’s entered.

“This year my game plan has really been about consistency. I don’t change much, I just go with the flow and trust the process. No matter where I’m entered, my mental game stays the same: stay steady, stay consistent, and don’t let my emotions ride the highs and lows.”
